Jeniffer Yee Testimonial

One of the best decisions I’ve made in life was to join the insurance industry. After teaching in a secondary school for three years, I decided that I needed a new direction for me to grow into as a person. I am blessed to have found the opportunity with Great Eastern and GE Lifesavers to work in an environment that cultivates a growth mindset.
One thing I truly cherish about my work as an insurance planner is that I have been able to make a real difference in other people’s lives. This is something that goes beyond dollars and cents. I remember when my close friend had cancer at the age of 28, and I helped her as an agent. I realised I had to try and understand the pain she was going through, and was glad that the plans we had put into place earlier meant that she could receive the best medical treatment without worrying about her finances. Now she’s healthy again with a kid of her own!
As somebody with a background in biology, I’ve also been able to help clients who have challenging health issues. In trying to find the most suitable insurance plan for them, there is sometimes a need to fight for their rights and give them a voice. When I help them in this way, I feel like a million bucks. I sometimes even feel like a lawyer!
Over time, I have grown as a leader with the help and guidance of Aaron G (my manager who brought me into this business). He has taught me valuable skills, from his analysis and strategic planning, how he organizes his thought processes, and especially in decision-making. The hours he has taken to help me in these areas have honed my skills and made me the leader I am today.
I am grateful that the younger 28-year old me found the courage to step out beyond my comfort zone, and today I can testify that it has resulted in a better version of myself – someone who has clear purpose, direction, and the confidence to move forward!
